Cultivating Compassion
Cultivating Compassion is a free newsletter. If you love it and are able to support my work financially, I offer the option to subscribe for $5/month or $48/year. With this, you’ll gain access to download all of my compassion and mindfulness meditations and exercises. I’m working on adding more features as well, which I’ll be sharing soon. Thank you!
Who am I?
Kristine Claghorn is a certified educator and facilitator of compassion & mindfulness through Stanford University’s Center for Compassion and Altruism, Research, and Education (CCARE). She’s currently working for Stanford University CCARE in Communication & Marketing. Previously, she was the Head of Creative Partnerships at the Global Compassion Coalition.
She's also a creative producer and coach of compassion & mindfulness, with interests in the areas of neuroplasticity and getting unstuck, self-compassion, self-worth, combatting polarization, and nonviolent communication. She has worked on several guides on these topics and wrote an e-book called “Taking Compassionate Action: A Compassionate Guide to Navigating Burnout, Imposter Syndrome, and Difficult Conversations to Further Resilience, Take Action, and Create Positive Change.,” which includes 12+ recorded practices and meditations. She's passionate about identifying creative opportunities that help individuals and brands get unstuck.
As a creative producer for a marketing agency based in Los Angeles, she worked with a range of brands and entertainment clients — Disney, Diet Coke, and Hubert's Lemonade — to create thumb-stopping photo and video content for audiences on social. She's pivoted her marketing skill set to focus on education and tools to help others live more impactful, compassionate lives. She spends much of her time reading the science and data within the field of compassion and uses her knowledge to translate the data into bite-size content that is accessible to all. She’s currently working on content creation and social media management for the podcast Being Well with Dr. Rick Hanson & Forrest Hanson.
What will you find in this newsletter?
In this newsletter, I’ll be sharing lessons and thoughts on topics like compassion, nonviolent communication, combatting polarization, self-compassion & self-worth, mindfulness, and the research and science to back them. With each lesson, I’ll offer an exercise, practice, or meditation that you’ll be able to do at your own leisure.
I’m also passionate about taking compassionate action, so I will also be sharing action items that you can do to help with current events going on around the world.
Lastly, I love sharing tidbits that I find interesting and entertaining, so there will be a section dedicated to whatever finds its way into my brain. An example might be a recipe I cooked and loved, a book or article that meant something to me or a TikTok that I watched 100 times as I cried with laughter.
Writing this newsletter will be a new journey for me, so I’ll be figuring it out as I go. Don’t be surprised if I continue to add new things into the mix. Thank you for joining me!
How do I read it?
